Lightweight Wheels
Zero Components to Distribute german made Lightweight Wheels
Zero components, an affiliate of Javelin Cycles, www.javbike.com was appointed North American distributor for the famous German made Lightweight wheels. Manufactured in Friedrichshafen, Germany, Lightweight spoked and disc wheels are the most sought after high-performance bicycle product in the world. The wheels first gained their fame when Bjarne Riis rode them to his 1996 Tour de France victory. Lightweight wheels have played a major role in every Tour win since that time. Cyclists including Armstrong, Pantani, and Ullrich have all used these wheels in major Tour and World Championship victories.
Lightweight takes the all-carbon wheel in a direction no other wheel manufacturer has gone. They laminate the carbon/kevlar spokes directly into the hub and rim, and all wheels are equipped with a memory chip. These chips store data tracking each wheel’s manufacturing history, including serial number and production data. The chips weigh only 0.2g and can facilitate top level service.
Zero will distribute Carbon Sports’ full line of wheels and accessories to North American independent bicycle retailers. The product line includes three wheelsets, Lightweight Standard, L’Alpe d’Huez, and Obermayer, with retail prices ranging from $3,700 - $5,500. The complementary Lightweight rear disc wheel has a suggested retail price of $2,000.
